June is the month when summer gets into full swing and here in New Jersey, delicious strawberries herald in the warmer weather.

June's full moon, which falls on the 24th is called the Strawberry Moon!

To grow your own strawberries you need a patch with plenty of sun and you can plant them at any time of year, but after the first frost if you want berries the same year. For more specific information you can read this article from Rutgers. Not ready this year? Add it to your gardening calendar for next Spring.

If you don't have a suitable space or don't want to plant them yourself, check out:

Speaking of hot summer days, predictions for early to mid June call for one of the hottest periods of the summer so be sure to keep your gardens, yard and trees well watered during dry periods. Yes, grown trees can survive without it but they sure do appreciate it.

This first real month of picnicking on the lawn or grilling out is an excellent time to survey your outdoor areas to make them even more inviting. Talk to me about your ideas and let's bring them to fruition!
